Tuxedo Labs is a tech gaming studio in Malmö, Sweden. It was founded by Dennis Gustafsson, known for developing the game Teardown. The studio's mission is to push the boundaries of gaming technology, interactivity and gameplay. To do this, the studio creates its own tools and game engines. Teardown is based on innovative voxel technology that combines destruction physics and ray tracing. Tuxedo Labs was acquired by the Embracer group in 2022. The studio also plans to release versions of the game for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in 2023.
Tuxedo Labs is a sandbox with puzzle and action elements. The player controls the owner of a demolition company who gets into trouble due to questionable orders. The player must complete various tasks related to the theft or destruction of objects connected to the alarm. The player has unlimited time to prepare and is given upgradeable tools, vehicles and explosives to create a path within the level that allows him to complete objectives as quickly as possible. The timer starts as soon as the alarm goes off and the player must complete all required objectives and reach the escape location within sixty seconds. The game's levels are made up of destructible voxels with different materials, so locked metal gates can be destroyed using an excavator.
Tuxedo Labs has received positive reviews from critics and players for its physics, interactivity, graphics, style, and music. The game also supports modifications, which contributes to its longevity. Tuxedo Labs sold 1.1 million copies of the game by August 2022
