Crytek is a German video game developer and publisher that was founded in 1999 by three Turkish brothers: Cevat, Avni and Faruk Yerli. The company is known for its first-person shooter games such as Far Cry, Crysis and Hunt: Showdown, as well as its CryEngine game engine, which allows you to create games with high levels of graphics and physics.Crytek got its start by creating a technology demo for X-Isle: Dinosaur Island, which showed off their engine's capabilities in rendering large distances and dinosaurs. This demonstration attracted the attention of Ubisoft, which invited Crytek to develop a full-fledged game based on this concept. This is how Far Cry was born, which was released in 2004 and became one of the most successful and influential shooters of its time.
In 2004, Crytek partnered with Electronic Arts (EA) to develop a new game franchise based on the updated CryEngine 2 engine. This franchise became the Crysis series, which consists of three parts and several expansions. The Crysis series is about the conflict between the United States, North Korea, and alien invaders on islands and cities. The Crysis series games are distinguished by their non-linearity, freedom of choice and the use of a nanosuit, which gives the player various abilities.
In 2009, Crytek introduced a new version of its engine, CryEngine 3, which was adapted to run on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles, as well as for creating games in virtual reality. Games such as Warface, Ryse: Son of Rome, Robinson: The Journey and The Climb were created on this engine.
In 2018, Crytek released its latest game, Hunt: Showdown, which is a multiplayer shooter with survival and horror elements. The game takes place in an alternative 19th century America where players hunt monsters and fight each other for a reward
