Description
Atari is an American video game developer and publisher that was founded in 1972 by Nolan Bushnell and Ted Dabney. Atari is considered one of the pioneers of the video game industry, having released famous games such as Pong and the Atari 2600. Atari also produced home computers such as the Atari 400 and Atari 800. In 1984, Atari split into two companies: Atari Corporation, which focused on home computers. consoles and computers, and Atari Games, which dealt with arcade games.

In the 1990s, Atari Corporation released several unsuccessful consoles, such as the Atari Lynx, Atari Jaguar, and Atari Jaguar CD, which failed to compete with other manufacturers. In 1996, Atari Corporation merged with JT Storage, and in 1998 its assets were purchased by Hasbro Interactive. At the same time, Atari Games continued to release arcade games under the Atari Games brand and home games under the Tengen brand. In 1999, Atari Games was purchased by Midway Games.

In 2001, Hasbro Interactive sold its rights to the Atari brand to the French company Infogrames, which renamed its divisions Atari Interactive and Atari Inc... Since then, the company has published several games under the Atari brand, such as RollerCoaster Tycoon, Test Drive and Neverwinter Nights. In 2009, Infogrames renamed itself Atari SA. In 2013, Atari Inc. and Atari Interactive filed for bankruptcy and were sold to other investors.

Currently, Atari SA is engaged in the development and publishing of video games, as well as the production of consumer electronics, such as the Atari VCS retro console and the Atari Watch smart watch.
